OWNER STORY

My name is Austin Carver, and I started Cornerstone Paving WA to bring professional, honest, and reliable paving services to homeowners and property owners throughout the Spokane region.
Before launching Cornerstone, I spent four years supervising Spokane County chip seal operations, helping oversee roadway crews, public infrastructure projects, and more than 500 miles of paving surface work across Eastern Washington.
That experience taught me something simple: long-lasting surfaces are built through proper preparation, quality materials, and doing the job right the first time. Today, we bring those same standards to every driveway, private road, and residential project we take on. — Austin Carver, Owner
I started Cornerstone because, I believed there was a better way to run a paving company. Too often, contractors in this business are vague about pricing, unclear about timelines, and quick to move on once the job is technically done. That is not how I was raised and it is not how I run this company.
When you hire Cornerstone Paving WA, you are hiring a crew that treats your property with respect, answers your questions directly, and does not disappear once the invoice is paid. Every surface we build is one we would be comfortable driving over ourselves.

How Does Cornerstone Paving WA Complete a Paving Project?

Cornerstone Paving WA follows a proven five-step process on every residential paving project in Spokane and Eastern Washington. Each step is designed to ensure the finished surface is built correctly from the ground up and performs reliably through Washington’s demanding seasons.

1. Consultation and Site Evaluation

What happens during the first step of the paving process?
We visit your property in person to assess the current condition of the surface, identify any drainage or grading issues, and understand your goals and budget. This on-site evaluation is what allows us to recommend the right paving solution for your specific property before any work or cost is committed.

2. Planning and Preparation

What preparation is done before paving begins?
Our team prepares the area by grading and leveling the ground, cleaning the existing surface, and addressing any drainage or structural concerns. A properly prepared subbase is the single most important factor in how long a paved surface holds up, and we never skip this step.

3. Paving or Surface Treatment

How is asphalt paving or chip seal applied?
Using professional equipment and quality materials, we apply your chosen surface treatment, whether that is hot mix asphalt, chip seal aggregate, or protective seal coating. Every layer is applied at the correct depth and temperature to ensure proper bonding and long-term durability.

4. Compaction and Quality Check

Why is compaction important in asphalt paving?
Compaction eliminates air pockets and locks the surface material into a tight, stable layer. After compacting, we inspect the entire surface including all edges and drainage points to confirm the finished result meets our quality standards.

5. Final Walkthrough With the Homeowner

What happens at the end of a Cornerstone Paving WA project?
We walk the completed surface with you, explain exactly what was done at each stage, and answer any questions you have about maintenance or upkeep. We do not consider a job finished until you are fully satisfied.
